Make the most of Avon Place

Living in the city of Stratford and surrounded by art, exquisite food and culture, residents of Avon SwanPlace will never be at a loss for things to do. Stratford is always bustling with exciting events, exhibits and scenic spaces to grab lunch or sit back with a good book. Due to the city’s reputation as a central hub for both local and visiting artists, it is often filled with activity throughout the tourist season. To make sure you get the most of the Avon, our preferred property management company Williams and McDaniel have selected some activities and sights you will not want to miss.

While Stratford is renowned as a stage for artists and entertainers, it also boasts a mouthwatering cuisine selection and fresh and local eateries. For those who are interested in tantalizing their taste buds, the Flavours of Stratford tours are an excellent way to peruse the streets of downtown Stratford. The Morning Culinary Walking Tour begins at 10 a.m. and offers a unique selection of local food choices including cheeses and meats from a variety of restaurants.  For those who prefer to sleep in a little, there are afternoon tours that start at 2:30 p.m. In order to make sure you do not miss out on these tours, it is best to make reservations at (519) 801-8690 or visit Perth County Tourism Reservations.

While it may not be common knowledge, Stratford has the most parkland per capita in Canada. Stratford’s five breathtaking gardens are all linked alongside the Avon River and feature magnificent views. The river is one of Stratford’s central attractions and is the site of many activities including boat tours and rentals. Enjoy a relaxing day surrounded by flowers, the fresh air and the scenic waterway in the Shakespearean Gardens, which are a 5-minute car ride and 25-minute walk from the apartments. Learn about the history and creation of the gardens and the creation of Lake Victoria by participating in one of The Shakespearean Gardens Guided Tours. Filled with lit fountains, native trees and ornamental sculptures, Millennium Park beside the Gallery of Stratford is another gorgeous green space you will not want to miss. Located on Romeo Street, the gallery and park are only a 7-minute ride away from the apartments. For additional information about the parks and places to stroll around Stratford, the ‘Stratford Strolls Map’ is a helpful resource.

The performing arts have always had a highly acclaimed presence in Stratford. The Stratford Festival is always introducing new and classic plays with the province’s most talented actors. Each month there are new and exciting plays to explore and get lost in. For information on current shows visit the Stratford Festival’s website.  Make sure you do not miss any upcoming events in Stratford by taking a look at the Visit Stratford webpage’s Event Calendar.
