To help residents of the Avon Place Apartments avoid the holiday scramble, our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel, has put together some dessert recipes that are freezer friendly.

Mint-Chocolate Cookies

If you’re a fan of mint and chocolate, these Mint-Chocolate Cookies by Better Homes and Gardening will be right up your alley. Stock up on all the ingredients at Food Basics located at 925 Ontario Street, which is an eight-minute drive from the Avon Place Apartments. Once baked, layer the cookies between sheets of waxed paper in an airtight container and they’ll keep for three days. If you’re making them ahead and storing them in the freezer, they will stay fresh for up to three months.

Salted Peanut Butter Blossoms

Salted Peanut Butter Blossoms are a soft, chewy and delightfully sweet treat that deserve a spot on the holiday dessert table. Combine all the ingredients and follow I Heart Naptime’s recipe and you’ll be whipping these wonders up in no time at all. These mouth-watering treats can be stored in an airtight container for up to three months. Located at 30 Queensland Road, Sobeys has all the ingredients you’ll need to create these blossoms. The store is a three-minute drive from the apartments.

Cinnamon rolls

Cinnamon Rolls are a delicious dessert that requires no introduction. Ingredients for these can be found at Foodland located at 581 Downie Street, which is a five-minute drive from the Stratford Apartments. I Should Be Mopping The Floor has created a roll recipe that can be frozen or baked from frozen. If you’re freezing them, place cut dough slices on a cookie sheet and freeze for three hours. Next, remove the dough and place into a freezer bag or container and place in the freezer until you’re ready to bake them. To bake them from frozen, place the rolls in a greased casserole dish, bake in a 350-degree oven for 25-30 minutes and frost immediately. Frosting doesn’t freeze well and should be made while the rolls are baking.

Peppermint Shortbread Cookies

Peppermint is a key flavour during the holiday season and these Peppermint Shortbread Cookies by Rachel Cooks are a sweet example. Buttery, rich and eye-catching, these cookies are an item that your friends and family will love. One of the best things about shortbread, besides its flavour, is how easily you can whip up a batch, form a log and freeze it. If you have unexpected guests, simply slice off a couple of cookies, pop them in the oven and you’ve got yourself a delicious, impromptu dessert offering.

Peanut Butter S’more Blossoms
Peanut and chocolate just got a whole lot better with the introduction of marshmallows in Crazy For Crust’s Peanut Butter S’more Blossoms. These delicious treats can be enjoyed all-year round so don’t be afraid to get creative with their ingredients. Store them in an airtight container for three days and if you’re planning on freezing them, they can stay in a container or in a Ziploc bag layered between paper towels for up to one month. Buy your bulk candy and ingredients at Zehrs located at 865 Ontario Street, which is a seven-minute drive from the Avon Place Apartments.
