Summer’s here and the time is right for eating in the street — or close to it. Summer in Stratford is about more than just Shakespeare — it’s about enjoying life and maybe grabbing a drink with friends on a neighbourhood patio. The blog team at Williams and McDaniel have a list of great spots for you to try.
The Parlour Inn
This vintage downtown hotel has been a Stratford landmark since 1871. A special patio menu is available after 5pm featuring classic fare like The Patio Burger or jumbo chicken wings and some new favourites unique to the Parlour, like Philly Steak Wonton Nachos (prime rib, wonton chips with Asiago and fontina cheese $15). Come raise a glass to the old times and make some new memories at the Parlour Inn, 101 Wellington Street — 5 minutes by car or bike from Avon Place Apartments (359-397 Railway Road, Stratford).
Mercer Hall features locally sourced food, made from scratch. From line caught west coast seafood to heritage pork. They take their beer seriously with a great selection of craft brews and traditional favorites. Find them at 104-108 Ontario Street, a 5 minute drive by car from Avon Place.
Downie Street Burgers
What’s better than a good burger and a cold drink on a patio? Downie Street Burgers (107 Downie Street, 5 to 7 minutes by car or bike from Avon Place) offers an exceptional build-your-own burger menu as well as their own signature burgers. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available and the fries and soups are made in-house daily. They also offer an interesting selection of local craft beers and Ontario wines.
Summer is about enjoying the weather and simple pleasures, like a good meal and drink with friends. Don’t let summer in Stratford pass you by without giving one or more of these patios a try! For more information on Williams and McDaniel rental properties, please click here.
